Definitions

Long exposure photography- Having a long shutter speed so that the subjects look blurry or ghost-like.


Light painting- Creating exposures by a hand held light or by moving a camera.


Solargraphy- Long light exposure photography.


Calotype- An early photography developing using paper and silver iodide.

Terms

Rule of thirds- guideline proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.


Depth of field- Distance between near and far away subjects, often shown in sharpness.

DSLR- A digital camera that combines an optic of a single lens reflexive camera and a digital image sensor

Vocab

METADATA-  Means data about data. Such as when, where, and how the photo as taken


DPI- Dots per inch. Older monitors and printers have DPI rather than PPI.


PPI- Pixels per inch, this can help with image clarity
